Sophomore guard Tevin Mack has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules.

“We have a set of standards that we expect people in our program to adhere to,” head coach Shaka Smart said in a statement Thursday. “Tevin has failed to reach them.”

This marks Mack's second suspension this season. The guard was suspended for another violation of team rules in the preseason and sat out an exhibition game along with the team's season opener.

Mack leads the Longhorns in scoring this season, averaging nearly 15 points per game. He scored nine points in Wednesday's loss against TCU, only the fourth time this season he's failed to score in double-digits.

The suspension comes at an inopportune time for the Longhorns as the team enters a grueling part of their schedule. Texas' next three games are against No. 10 West Virginia at home and No. 1 Baylor and No. 2 Kansas on the road.

The Longhorns tipoff against the Mountaineers this Saturday at 3 p.m.
