Austin Police respond to report of an armed robbery at Dobie Target

Update 9:31 a.m.:  The suspect was arrested by UTPD in the University Christian Church and turned over to the custody of APD, Newton said.

Original Story: The Austin Police Department responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Dobie Target, located at 2025 Guadalupe Street, at 7:46 a.m., according to a University-wide alert by the UT Police Department.

The suspect was armed with a knife, according to a tweet by APD. However, there were no injuries caused by the incident, UTPD spokeswoman Noelle Newton said.

Following the incident at Target, he was seen heading east onto campus.

Newton said both APD and UTPD officers searched for the suspect. The suspect was found and went into police custody around 8:52 a.m., according to another University-wide alert by UTPD.

The suspect was not affiliated with UT, Newton said.
